Jerry Earl Benson

Mr. Benson was born in Watonga, Oklahoma, on October 13, 1946. He graduated from Watonga High School in 1964. He served on active duty in the United States Navy from 1964 until 1971. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Business Administration and minoring in English from Southwestern State College, Weatherford, Oklahoma, in 1974. In 1976 he began his legal practice as a Legal Intern with the Oklahoma City University Legal Aid Society, and during 1977 and 1978, he worked as a Legal Intern with the Attorney General of the State of Oklahoma.
He graduated from Oklahoma City University Law School in 1978, receiving a Juris Doctor Degree, and during the same year became admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association and appointed as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Oklahoma, which he continued until 1979. In 1979 he entered the private practice of law and has continued doing so since that time. He is a member of the Bar Association of Blaine County, the Federal District Courts for the Western, Northern and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He served as the Municipal Judge for the City of Watonga from 1979 to 1989.

For many years he has been very active in church and has strong Christian values. Also, he has for many years been active in Kiwanis and the American Legion. He is also active in the Watonga All-Sports Association and he is a member of the Watonga Chamber of Commerce.
