Albert Littleman, Sr. Funeral services for Albert Littleman, Sr., Cheyenne Peace Chief, 63, of Thomas, will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 3, 2005 in the First Assembly of God Church in Thomas with Elder Kelly Tiger and Rev. Francine Big Goose officiating. Burial will conclude in the Mound Valley Cemetery in Thomas under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home. Albert was born October 13, 1942, in Thomas, OK, to Paul and Nellie (Whiteshield) Littleman and passed away early Thursday December 1, 2005, in the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. His grandfather Jacob All Runner, was one of the original 44 Cheyenne Chiefs and Albert's Indian name, Walking Turtle was in honor of his grandfather. Albert was raised in Thomas where he was a member of the 1962-63 Class C State Football Championship team. He was employed at the Thomas Meat Locker Plant. He continued his education at Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas. Albert served in the Army but had to take an early discharge because his father became ill. He married Sandra K. Factor on September 17, 1967, in Enid, Oklahoma. Following his honorable discharge Albert went to work for Western Electric in Oklahoma City. The family later settled in Thomas and Albert went to work for Mobile Oil and Gas, retiring in 1995. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending Pow Wows, where he performed as Gourd Dancer and Straight Dancer. He coached Thomas Little League Baseball, and served as Chairman of the Cheyenne Arapaho Colony Pow Wow in 1997-98. He was a member of the S.W. Vietnam Vets, Cheyenne Chiefs, Thomas Service Club, Fire Fighters and had served as an Assistant Fire Chief. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Virginia, 2 daughters, Karen Sue and Mariene Littleman. Albert is survived by his wife Sandra of the home, daughters Maureen Littleman of Chickasha, and Angels Littleman of Thomas, sons Albert Jr. of Chickasha, Kevin and Calvin, both of the home, sisters Annie Collins of Thomas, Zola Crowder of California, Betty Hart of Thomas, Dara Franklin of El Reno, a brother Merritt Youngman of Lawton, and 8 grandchildren. An all night wake service will be held Friday night beginning at 7:00 pm at his home at 213 N. 4th in Thomas. |
