Alma Susanne Loveless
Alma Susanne Loveless was born July 29, 1906 to John H. and Sarah (Suderman) Warkentin in Gotebo, Oklahoma. She passed away Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Geary Community Nursing Home in Geary, OK at the age of 100. The family moved to Newton, KS where Alma had her early schooling. They moved to Geary in 1918. Alma attended Canadian Valley School and graduated from Geary High School in 1925. She graduated from the Halstead Hospital School of Nursing in Halstead, KS in 1928. She was a practicing registered nurse for 40 years at various clinics and hospitals. Through her nursing skills, she saved her nephew Jack Warkentin’s life as an infant. Her last years were at Carrie Tingley Hospital for crippled children in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico where she had one special child Monica Atwell. She made her home there in Truth or Consequences, NM for over 30 years. After retiring from nursing Alma worked for a time in the Truth or Consequences Library before moving back to Geary in 1981. Alma had done a lot of church work in both the Mennonite and Methodist Churches including teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, rug making and other crafts. Alma loved rodeos and square dancing. Alma was united in marriage to Clarence E. Loveless September 6, 1936 in Pampa, TX and he preceded her in death December 10, 1967 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Her biggest regret in life was not having any children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sarah Warkentin, husband Clarence Loveless, brother, Art Warkentin, and one sister, Ida Miles.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE: One brother, Herman Warkentin and his wife Emma of Ft. Worth, TX; sister-in-law, Iris Warkentin of Geary, OK; nieces and nephews, Jack Warkentin, John Warkentin, Elise McElroy, Carol Duvall, Charles Miles, and Margaret Ann Kobs
