Bonnie Alma Hale
Hinton Pioneer homesteader Bonnie Alma (Thomason) Hale went to be with the Lord August 7, 2006 at her home in Hinton, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 23 days. Bonnie was born Nov. 30, 1913 to W.J. and Amie (Nickles) Thomason, six-and-a-half miles west of Hinton on the family farm that was acquired in the 1902 land drawing in El Reno, OK. She attended grade school at Pleasant View School, a country school located on the O.T. Weathers farm. She graduated from Hinton High School in 1931. Bonnie then attended Southwestern Normal College, Weatherford, OK, graduating in 1937. Bonnie was an elementary teacher. Her first teaching job was at Lone Mound, west of Hinton, followed by Bridgeport, OK, where she met P.R. Hale. They were united in marriage June 8, 1941. P.R. and Bonnie lived on the family farm with Bonnie’s brothers, Charlie, Edward “Doc”, handicapped sister, Dorothy, sons, Clee, Keith, Alva, and daughter Maxiene. Bonnie was a wife, mother, caregiver and friend. Upon the death of P.R. in 1971, Bonnie and Doc moved to Hinton. She was a very independent person, living alone for many years. Bonnie was a professional quilter. Many of her quilts won awards at quilting shows. Bonnie accepted the Lord at an early age and was a long time member of Bethel Methodist Church. When Bethel Church dissolved, she became a member of First United Methodist Church of Hinton. Bonnie was active in the women’s group and secretary of her Sunday School Class until her health failed in 2003. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, P.R.; son Clee Hale, son Alva Hale; four brothers- Riley, Charlie , Edward (Doc), and Delmar Thomason, seven sisters, Minnie Coffey, Anna Cruzan, Ada Byrum, Dorothy Thomason, Ella and Stella Thomason (twins), and Effie Thomason. She is survived by son, Keith Hale and wife Carolyn of Houston, Texas, daughter-in-law, Marie Hale, Yukon, OK, daughter-in-law Phyllis Hale, Hinton, OK, and daughter Maxiene Little and husband Larry of Hinton, OK. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
