Clora Hughs Dixon
Long time Watonga resident, Clora Hughs Dixon went to be with her Lord and Savior, February 17, 2008. She was born June 23, 1917 in Hagersville, Arkansas to john and Ida Watson Hughs. In 1931 the Hughs family moved to Carlton. Clora and Lieu Allen Dixon were married October 26, 1945 and they farmed at Carlton for more than a decade before moving to Watonga in early 1958. Mr. and Mrs. Dixon were baptized in and became charter members of the First Baptist Church of Canton on July 2, 1950. A long standing member of the Watonga First Baptist Church, she enjoyed teaching children's Sunday School class until her failing eye sight forced her to give up that position in the mid 1970's. She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother and her husband who died in 1991. Clora is survived: one daughter - Glenda Pendleton of Watonga ......five grandchildren - Michael of Watonga, Henry of Moore, Jeremy of Cushing, JaJuan of El Reno and Kaleil of Watonga and one sister; Mrs. Edna Klopfenstine of Oklahoma City. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 22, 2008 at 2:00 pm at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga with Rev. Rick Harrison officiating. Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
