Esther Dorothea Peck
Esther Dorothea Peck was born August 2, 1929 near Winside, Nebraska to Paul and Minnie Mach and passed away Monday, October 2, 2006 at the age of 77.
She grew up in the Omega, Oklahoma area and graduated from Omega High School.
She married Hugh Peck on October 2, 1949 at Watonga, Oklahoma and they moved to Sheldon, Missouri where they resided for 14 years, after which moving to Cheyenne Wells, Colorado where they farmed for nine years. Esther and Hugh moved back to the Omega, Oklahoma area in the fall of 1975. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Watonga where she was baptized and confirmed. Esther was also active in the Cedar Valley Home Extension Club and served on the Blaine County Election Board. For many years she was the church organist, the music director for vacation Bible school, and a member of the LWMI. She loved to crochet and quilt and was a wonderful cook and loved to make family dinners.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Albert.
She is survived by: two sons, Hugh Peck, Jr. and wife Rebecca of Fairview, Oklahoma Sid Peck of Omega, Oklahoma two daughters, Dorothy Sponsel and husband Robert of Ulysses, Kansas Susan Peck of Topeka, Kansas one brother, Darrel Mach of Knoxville, Tennessee one sister, Lorraine Mach of Watonga, Oklahoma nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Esther Peck will be held Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 10:00 am at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Watonga with Rev. Paul Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the Omega Cemetery in Omega, Oklahoma with Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Luther Haven children camp of the OMRF for eye research. |
