Gayla Fay Schreiner Cornelsen was born August 25, 1955 at Okeene, Oklahoma to Albert and Carol Wray Schreiner and passed away Friday, January 20, 2006 at the age of 50.

 

She was a resident of the Hydro community.  Gayla grew up in Hitchcock, Oklahoma and attended and graduated from Watonga Schools.  Gayla was a first runner-up in the first Miss Red Carpet Country Contest, and the Round Up Club Queen.  She loved playing basketball with her sister, Lynne.  She adored her granddaughter and loved to travel the countryside.

 

She was married to Jim Cornelsen in 1973.

 

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert and one sister, Lynne.

 

She is survived by:
     one daughter, Leah Cushenberry and husband Clint of Kaw City, Oklahoma
     one brother, Randy Schreiner of Texhoma, Oklahoma
     her mother, Carol Schreiner of Watonga, Oklahoma
     two granddaughters, Kalyn Rae Cushenberry and Shaylee Renae Cushenberry of Kaw City, Oklahoma

     as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services for Gayla will be held Monday, January 23, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Christian Church in Watonga.  Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga with Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga.
