Joseph Archie Findley Joseph Archie Findley was born May 4, 1923 at Hinton, Oklahoma to George W. & Lula (Rich) Findley. He passed away Saturday, May 6, 2006, at his home in Hinton, at the age of 83. Archie attended Hinton Schools. He served in the US Army during WWII, where he served on the Honor Guard for President Roosevelt at Ft. Mead, M.D., and served a tour of duty in Europe in France & Germany, a motor pool Sgt. & escort driver for officers. He was awarded the Bronze Service Star, WWII Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the American Theater Ribbon. Archie was united in marriage to Edna Waneta Barnes on June 28, 1945 at Hinton, OK. They lived in the Hinton area and he worked as an auto body repair man most of his life. Archie served on the Hinton Fire Department and retired as Chief. he was a Boy Scout Leader, a member of the Gilbert-Fossett American Legion Post#233, where he served as Sgt. Of Arms for several years, and a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Hinton, OK.
Survivors Include: Edna Waneta Findley of the home, Hinton, OK; one daughter, Judith Ann Opitz & husband, Walter Paul of Ft. Cobb, OK; one son, Garry Lynn Findley & wife, Deborah Jean of Hinton, OK; three grandchildren, Traye Opitz, Jerod Findley, Jessica Findley; three great-grandchildren, Britney Cullum, Stephen & Adam Opitz, Brothers, C. Roy & Larry Findley both, of Hinton, OK; sister, Vivian Wilson of Traver, C.A.
Archie was preceded in death by his parents, George & Lula Findley; Brothers, Kenneth, Loran (Red), Wayne, Gerald (Ted) & one sister Imogene Kessler
