Johnnie “Dude” Franklin
Johnnie “Dude” Franklin was born September 6, 1918 in Pernell, Oklahoma to Oscar and Margaret (Fletcher) Franklin. He passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at Southwestern Memorial Hospital in Weatherford, Oklahoma at the age of 87. Dude attended the Pernell schools. He married Elnor Snider on March 22, 1941 in Lookeba, Oklahoma. Dude served in the United States Army during World War II as a Sergeant . The couple was stationed in Ft. Carson, Colorado. After Dude was discharged from the service, the two moved to the Lookeba-Binger area. They moved to the Hydro area in the 1960s where Dude farmed for many years. Dude was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He loved working with his hands and could fix just about anything.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE: Wife: Elnor Franklin of the home in Hydro, OK. Five daughters: Shirley Miller and her husband August of Hydro, OK, Nita Gathers and her husband Ron of Hinton, OK, Linda Smith and her husband Gary of Weatherford, OK, Charlette Constant and her husband Jim of Watonga, OK and Tammie Davis and her husband Marlin of Watonga, OK. Ten grandchildren: Sharla Miller, Johnnie Miller, Ronda Gray and her husband Sean, Johnnie Steve Gathers, Trevor Smith, Tyler Smith and his wife Kendra, Jeanna Crystal and her husband Joshua, Jayci Justice, Chad Davis and his wife Dawn, and Travis Franklin Davis. Four great-grandchildren: Andyn Justice, Noah Crystal, Trinity Gray, and Westyn Davis. Two sisters: Grace Franklin of Sulphur, OK and Lucille McMillan of Oklahoma City, OK. One sister-in-law: Vesta Franklin of Moore, OK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dude was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Margaret Franklin and three brothers: Clifford, Carl, and Murl Franklin.
