WE SERVE
Lions Club International was started by Melvin Jones in 1917. Mr. Jones belonged to a civic club in Chicago; but he
was unhappy with the group because of the lack of rules. He became frustrated
with fellow members who would take advantage of the opportunity to
'do business'
at the club meetings. He established
a group that would fine a member
ten cents
if they even mentioned their business name at a meeting; now
the fine is
25 cents and you can be fined twice per meeting if necessary.
