Watonga Medical Clinic

WMC began in 2005 and has grown into a business employing 7 people while helping to save another very important business in Watonga (Watonga Municipal Hospital).   Dr. Carter (originally from Warr Acres) and P.A. Alex Garcia started seeing patients early in 2005 and in October, Dr. Spencer (originally from Midwest City) joined the clinic and began seeing patients.

The Watonga Medical Clinic states their goal as this: to offer cutting-edge, evidence-based medical care that is patient centered and to offer the citizens of this area medical care that surpasses the care that one would find in metropolitan areas by providing high quality broad scopes and easily accessible care.

WMC continuously works to increase their medical knowledge so that a trip to the clinic results in a happy and well customer.  Articles from the WMC were featured in the Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality Review for one year (from 2005 - 2006).  And something that the public may not know is that the clinic offers scheduled home visits.

Dr. Carter tells a funny story about when the clinic first opened.  He brought the clinic a mascot, a tarantula.  The mascot was very popular, but one day someone left his cage open.  Five days went by without anyone spotting the mascot.  High anxiety filled the clinic for those 5 days.  Then Theresa, the clinic's receptionist, moved Dr. Carter's chair and the tarantula fell out from under the seat onto her foot.  Dr. Carter remarks that he is very thankful that that event did not mark the end of Theresa's employment OR of his life!
