Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Inc. was formed as a
cooperative telephone company in 1953, with four exchanges, four part time
employees, and an investment of $50,000, at a time when rural residents had
no telephone service. Today, Pioneer Telephone employs more than 600 people;
our service area covers 76 exchanges, 10,900 square miles, and serves more
than 140,000 members/customers in the 30 Oklahoma counties. Pioneer
Telephone has grown into a multimillion dollar corporation, qualifying it as
the fourth largest telephone cooperative in the United States.
Diversification has
helped Pioneer Telephone achieve substantial growth in the past two decades,
and is expected to lead us through the massive changes going on in the
telephone industry today. As a “Total Communications Company,” Pioneer
Telephone offers a wide variety of the latest in telecommunications products
and services including Digital Television, High-Speed Internet (both
wireless & landline), Cellular (EVDO Rev A), Security Systems, Long Distance
and Directory advertising.
As the telecommunications
industry evolves to wireless, Pioneer continually seeks new service products
and offerings in an effort to add value to traditional landline service.
Since 1953, Pioneer
Telephone has committed itself to provide complete service for its
customers. This has not only allowed us to understand them better, but show
them how they can benefit from the innovation we have to offer. As these new
innovations become available, Pioneer Telephone well be here to steer you in
the right direction and provide the best connections for home or business.
It is the right expertise that has allowed us to adapt our service
throughout the years to become a “Total Communications Company,” as well as
“Partners in Progress” with our communities.
Pioneer provides many
programs as a community service to respective schools and hospitals within
its service areas. One such program is the “Partner” School program, where
as Pioneer Long Distance designates one cent of every minute of use from
their long distance calling plans for K-12 schools throughout the Pioneer
service areas. To date, the program has allocated more than $495,000 to 163
schools since implementation of the program in February, 2003. The “Partner
Care” program is designed to provide comfort to the children recovering from
illness and/or surgery with 8” plush replica dolls of Pioneer’s mascot
“Partner.” Additionally, Pioneer facilitates programs to
elementary children on topics including E911 and Internet Safety and has
held local food and back-to-school supply drives in an effort to help others
in need. Another community service Pioneer has provided for many, many years
is the annual “Santa Call In.” Employees of Pioneer volunteer their time to
assist in transferring calls for numerous eager kids to speak with Santa at
the North Pole. On average, Pioneer employees assist with more than 1,800
calls per year.
