Pictures of the second grade class tying the quilt and an article about the centennial quilt

The First Lady Kim Henry
after seeing the class state
centennial quilt invited
Mrs. Lettkeman’s class to come to the State Capitol for a personal tour of Governor Henry’s office
and a private tour of the
Governor’s Mansion.

In addition her assistant
arranged for a tour of the
capitol by State Representative
Joe Dorman.

After arriving at the State Capitol the students went to Senator Justice’s office.  He was in session and was not in but they were invited to go in and look around.  We left and went across the hall to Representative Joe Doman’s office where he greeted the students.  We looked at his office and then he took the students to meet State Representative Rob Johnson.

Then the students were escorted by the State Representatives to the House chambers. The students got to sit in the State Representatives chairs behind their desks.  Then the students went to the Senate chambers where the Senate was in session. After students walked around the gallery the Senator made an announcement introducing the students. As the students left the senate, Senator Justice came out between votes and took a picture with them.

The Lieutenant Governor Jeri Askins came out of her office to visit with the students and also took a picture with them.  Their next stop on their schedule was the Governor’s office, which is usually not on the tour because it is a working office.  Kim Henry greeted them and she gave them a personal tour of his office and let the students sit in his chair.  She even took pictures of the students sitting in his chair.

The students then walked in
the tunnel to the Governor’s
mansion where Kim Henry
met them and gave them a
personal tour of the mansion.

She showed the students that
every governor’s name was on
each step ending with
Gov. Brad Henry.

She showed the students
each room, giving the students
personal attention.

She showed the students around
the outside and invited the
students to eat their lunches
around the
Oklahoma shaped pool.
