Nora's life seemed empty after J. R. passed away - she had spent long hours at his beside during his illness, but her children and grandchildren rallied at her side to keep her days filled.  Her sister, Elizabeth came for an extended visit the winter of 51-52 which helped so much to make her life more pleasant.  Aunt Lizzie was such an amiable soul and we all loved her dearly, she and Nora was so much alike - pleasant, trusting, knowledgeable with a positive outlook on life.  Their days were spent reminiscing about old times and places, playing cards (they both loved to play canasta) and just being happy with life.   aunt Lizzie was here to help Nora celebrate her 78th birthday on 11 January 1952, they went to Edmond to aunt Goldie's and that is where the picture below was taken.  But Elizabeth had to return to her own home not long after this so once more Nora was left alone with just her family members to keep her company.

On February 11th, just one month after Nora's 78th birthday, she made a television appearance (a novelty in those days).  Naomi Whisler Rice-Dewey submitted her name to the Danny Williams TV. program where he featured older, early day people who had interesting stories to tell.

Nora's was being an '89er and an early day school teacher.  He asked for some of her grandchildren & great-grandchildren to appear with her, so Naomi asked Laurel and Patsy Whisler, Nora's granddaughters and Richard and Curtis Rice, her great-grandsons to join her.  It was a great show for all of us. Richard and Curtis sang two songs, "Red River Valley" and "Swing Low Sweet Chariot".

But the loneliness and loss of her lifelong companion had taken its toll on her health and around the first of April she suffered a stroke, she lingered for several days, but on the 11th April, 1952, she passed away.
